SMA Solar Technogy AG Wins Prestigious Energy Efficiency Award

Niestetal, Germany-based SMA Solar Technology AG has been awarded the "Energy Efficiency Award 2010" by Deutsche Energie-Agentur GmbH (dena), the offical German Energy Agency. The company was honored in recognition of its efforts in building a new CO2-neutral inverter plant.

The Energy Efficiency Award concluded an international competition that highlighted the importance of energy efficiency in industry and production. The award was presented by German Federal Minister of Economics, Rainer Brüderle. Another 1st prize went to Viessmann Werke GmbH & Co KG, for the company's energy optimization of an existing production plant. The second prize was awarded to Saigon TanTec Limited, for erecting an energy-efficient new leather factory in Vietnam. The Brazilian aluminum company Alunorte won special recognition for reducing its energy consumption in aluminum production.
